Charles Banya delighted to be a Red

21 August 2014

Striker desperate to improve and play his part at Crawley Town

Charles Banya is delighted to be staying with Reds at least until December – and is determined to become a regular part of John Gregory’s plans.

The 20-year-old, who was released by Fulham in the summer after eight years with the London club, was given a short-term deal by the boss earlier this month after impressing in pre-season.

That was extended to a contract until the end of the year after Charles played in all four of our League and Cup games so far as a substitute.

He said: “It was hard when I left Fulham. I’d been there since I was a 12-year-old schoolboy and I’d got used to being there.

“So to come to Crawley and sign now until December is a great opportunity for me.

The other lads have made me feel welcome and the manager is great because he’s always talking to me – telling me what I have done well and what I need to work on.”

Charles’ assets are his quick feet and speed off the mark but he admits there are other aspects of his game he needs to work on. “My heading and my strength need to get better so I can influence

games more and make a bigger contribution,” he added.
