The Reds undeservedly went down by 2 goals to nil away at Stevenage Borough but can count themselves very unfortunate after dominating for long spells in the second half.

Manager Steve Evans had Captain Adam Quinn missing and Ben Smith only just fit enough to be on the bench after he lost 5kg in five days with a virus. Danny Forrest was recalled to the starting XI and had a decent afternoon, only being withdrawn through tiredness late in the second half.

The first half was mainly played out in midfield and neither team could take control. The Reds looked organised and efficient in possession but neither goalkeeper was fully tested.

The home team went in front just 3 minutes into the second half. A long shot from thirty-five yards seemed to deceive Simon Rayner as it went into the Reds net in a central area but it really should have been saved by the Reds custodian keeper.

From then on the Reds took the match to high flying Boro and four good chances came and went. Mikey Malcolm should certainly have scored but he failed to convert a superb Thomas Pinault cross. The passing play was a joy to watch but the all important final product, sticking the ball in the net was missing.

Boro got a second in the fifth minute of added time when the Reds had virtually all their players in the Boro box for a set play but it was the goal that sent the home team top of the Blue Square Premier League.

The Reds are next in action when they face high flying Wimbledon at The Broadfield Stadium on Tuesday, a match the Reds need to win if our slim chance of making those end of season playoffs is to continue. Steve Evans players gave everything they had at Boro and given the resources available to both clubs the lads can be proud of such a good display.
