The Reds came from a goal down inside the first minute to win the match described beforehand by both managers as a must win game. The lads produced a fantastic display and goals by Danny Forrest and Charlie Ademeno kept all three points on offer firmly at The Broadfield Stadium.
Matt Langston made an impressive debut at the heart of the Reds defence alongside man of the match Karl Broadhurst in a performance that will have delighted team boss Steve Evans and the home supporters who gave there team a standing ovation at full time. The visitors went a goal in front inside the first minute when Kedwell was left unmarked and he easily beat Rayner with a superb lofted finish. However from then on it was a classy Reds performance, a real mixture of energy and excellent passing that watched a dominant display. Danny Forrest pulled the teams level when he shot home from eight yards after a superb Matt Langston header across the goal from a precise training ground practiced free kick from Sam Rents. The teams went in level with the Reds perhaps disappointed they had not got themselves in front given the play. Early in the second half it was all the Reds and some of the one and two touch passing play was a joy to watch. Their reward came when Charlie Ademeno put the Reds in front with a brilliant low strike after he turned Wombles defender Paul Lorraine inside out. To be fair Forrest and Ademeno gave the Wimbledon central defenders a torrid evening and they will be delighted to have left The Broadfield Stadium with no further damage done. Wimbledon threw men forward in the closing stages but to no real effect, home keeper Simon Rayner did not have a save to make of any note. The Reds playoff chances remain in the balance but there is no doubt this team is playing the best quality of passing football in our history. Ebbsfleet United are the visitors on Saturday and they are in a great run of form so it’s another big challenge for the lads.
