Reds manager Steve Evans has confirmed he has made a move to sign an unnamed striker on loan. The boss further confirmed the deal, if it were to go ahead, would result in a player leaving to join that club also on loan.

Steve would not reveal the identity of the targeted player preferring to speak about the deal if his target joins up with the Reds.

Speaking on Friday morning Steve said; “I spoke to a manager just after 7am this morning and put a deal to him. He was not against what I proposed but wanted to think it through - I probably woke him up”  laughed the manager.

“I was in the car early and waiting till the clock struck 7am so I could phone him. It is a player I have liked for some time, I believe we could improve him and he would certainly give us another option up front. We all understand the importance of tomorrows match at home to Ebbsfleet United and I have no doubt even the pessimists among us would have to agree we are very much a part of the play off race should we claim all three points.

“The deal for the player would involve one of our players going in the opposite direction so the books can be balanced. It is not a player I would like to see move out but I could not expect the deal to be sanctioned without this happening.”

“It will probably be mid morning before I hear back but as soon as anything is confirmed I will let you know.”
